Does wrapping your head with saran wrap and using a swim cap work?

Does it keep decently dry in the pool? Anyone ever tried this? I have to take swim for PE at school, and I plan on doing this. I can dry my hair if it gets damp, but I don't have time to dry SOAKING wet hair.
